Eloralintide (LY3841136) is an investigational, long-acting selective amylin receptor agonist being developed for obesity and chronic weight management. Unlike GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide or dual GIP/GLP-1 drugs such as tirzepatide, eloralintide primarily targets the amylin pathway, particularly the AMY1 receptor.

How Eloralintide may promote weight loss

Amylin is a hormone normally released alongside insulin after eating and plays an important role in appetite, satiety, and food intake. By mimicking amylin signaling, eloralintide can increase feelings of fullness and reduce appetite and overall caloric intake. Its long pharmacokinetic profile was specifically designed to support once-weekly administration.

The potential weight-management benefits include stronger satiety, reduced hunger and food intake, substantial body-weight reduction, and improvements in several cardiometabolic markers. In preclinical research, much of the weight reduction was attributable to fat-mass loss, although we cannot assume the same body-composition proportions occur in humans.
